basically

Th Gracie's started it.

But only the Gracie family and affiliates can use the name, so others use "Brazillian"

Yes - if you ignore politics, and I suggest you do, then BJJ = GJJ

actually, gracie, or brazilian jiujitsu focuses primarily on grappling so they have more techniques on the ground as compared to japanese jujitsu

Machine: I don't think anyone mentioned Japanese Jujutsu before you, and there are many MANY threads on the site dealing with the differences between Brazillian and Japanese Jujutsu.

Back on topic: Are there a lot of "politics" between BJJ and GJJ then? Not doing either I don't see much of anything to do with them, but I'm interested now.

Nah! They're just better at it! j/k ;)

Back on topic, search the net or the back pages of MAI, you get GJJ, Machado Jiu Jitsu, Anaconda BJJ, and there's more!
