Starting to finally get back to normal after a football knee injury ( tear in mediscus or somethin like that) but when im working ot my knee still gets hella sore squats are the worst even with knee brace on. Anyone have any suggestions on training and building up the strength in my knee? Thanks.

Ever tried knee surgery?
I tried that once. I wasn't very good at it.

Find a good Sports Orthopedist and have him check it out. Pound him for effective answers. With all the advancements made in knee surgery and rehab, you shouldn't accept anything less then being able to do the things you want to do. Athletes all over the world suffer knee injuries and come back to compete at elite levels. Why should you settle for anything less?
I just had arthroscopic surgery on my left knee for a torn meniscus. I shocked the Dr. at my follow up with my range of motion and lack of pain. My rehab has to be slow and smart. I may be pushing more then the average person but that is because I understand what I am doing. I won't be able to go full poor until September. That is because the surgical site won't be completely healed until then. In the mean time, I am doing my rehab and concentrating on strengthening my knee joint. The mere fact that I can do body weight squats w/out pain in my knee is wonderful.

I would talk to your doctor again and get him or her to arrange for you to see a knee specialist or a surgeon, maybe go get an MRI done on it. I thought that if you get a tear in your meniscus usually you have to get it operated on.

Leg extensions to build up the area around the knee?
After my knee surgery (ACL reconstruct and miniscus repair), that was the one excercsie both my doctor and my physical threapist said I should NOT do. Leg extensions put a lot of strain on the knee. I was told to stick to thinkgs like squats, dead, leg presss...but avoid that kicking out motion.
Peace,
Erik

i was going to have miniscus repair surgery but after 2 MRIs the dr said i could leave it and it would start to heal on its own, which i gladly accepted because i wanted to play lacrosse in the coming up season
