I just noticed something and wanted to get some thoughts. I have always been a sloucher, I think partly as an unconscious reaction to being a tall guy in world built for smaller people. Now that I have a big mirror in my bathroom I have been closely studying my form. Ok, so I was checking out how I looked doing punches with my shirt off...I'll bet you've done the same thing! Anyway, I saw that when I was in my stance I was still slouching. It occurred to me that if I adopt a straighter posture overall, my spine would be straighter in all positions. From a biomechanics standpoint, I would think a straight spine would transfer force from the legs and hips more efficiently than a curved one. I haven't been to the gym yet to test this out on a bag, am I wrong or will this help me?

Well a slouchier posture actually covers you up better. A straighter posture is going to open up you mid-section more than a slouchy posture. A straighter posture to me will actually drian you energy more due to using more muscles to stay straighter. A relaxed muscle uses less energy. But when you punch your spine should go straight the energy starts from you waist and moves up through your fist.

Also depends on where you slouch, are you bent forward with your front shoulder up protecting your head? Do you twist at the waist when you throw a recerse punch and let your back heel come up a little to relieve back stress? Or do yu stay scrunched?
