Not really an answer to your question... but one by the same people that I checked out from the library and found really useful is:

Men's Health
Maximum Muscle Plan
by Thomas Incledon, CSCS, RD
Matthew Hoffman

http://www.amazon.com/Mens-Health-Maximum-Muscle-Plan/dp/1594863148

I found it to have a good list of hundreds of lifts. There are variations for making each one of them challenging as well. In addition to that it has the lifts explained for dumbbells, barbells, cable machines and how to get them done with resistance bands. All very interesting. Many of them I didn't know could be done with resistance bands. Good for people who are traveling.

Pictures clearly illustrate the key stages of each lift and the muscle groups effected are clearly explained. The book gives you actual workouts composed of various lifts depending on your goals (strength, size, sports specific), they cover cardo and injuries as well and has a couple chapters on protein, proper eating as well as blurbs throughout the book that debunk common lifting myths.

Overall... I found it a very handy book to have around to choose new lifts/exercises to work into the regime to keep it interesting. Everyone could always use a bit of variation in their lifting regime to keep their body responsive in a positive way.

Again - step number one... get a library card. Many should have it. You can check it out first and see if it's worths purchasing before you actually buy it.
