I just want to say congratulations to Louie for being the first student to clear for freeplay at the Glasgow Company of Duellists.
Well done mate, though George certainly made you work for it.

Aye, the Hamster was certainly Rabid on Sunday. I kept thinking, I'm glad it's not me out there. I think we send the fingernator in next ;).

Sounds like you had a blast guys. Congrats Louie, though i'm not familiar with 'the first to clear for freeplay'. I think it must be pretty good tho' :)

Hi Cloudhandz,
It means Louie is now cleared to duel with blunt steel longswords. As you can imagine it takes alot of training and no small amount of armour to make it safe enough to even attempt.

It would be great if you guys could post some vids of drills and freeplay.

Yeah, there has been alot of talk about it.
TBH we are still working very hard on creating drills that will develop the right skills. You have to remember the Duellists are only 6 months old and this is George's first time running a club. So a huge amount of time is being currently directed to developing drills and getting us students prepared for freeplay. There really hasn't been time to think about video making and to be honest it isn't high up on the priority list. Funding applications, safety equipment testing and building a good club are all miles more important at the moment. Sorry.

If anyone wants to pop in to the club and see what we are doing. Contact Louie or Rabid Hamster and I'm sure they will accomodate you.

Hi Langenschwert,

I think there was some video taken of George's bouts at the last Edinburgh Tourney but I haven't seen clips online yet.

Congratulations Louie!! :D

Although, you do realise you will be the only victim of the worlds deadliest Hamster at the end of every class until more of us get license to fight! hehe. All the best.

now I have removed the hair shirt of shame...

My congratulations to Louie. He's first of the Glasgow Company of Duellists to achieve the nod and certificate for being safe in freeplay (duelling). His punishment for a while is that his only opponent is me and I've been desperate to duel for about two years. :D
