Tournaments

Where is the furthest tournament you guys have been too? And do u guys really think its a good idea to go to a very far tournament. Because what happens if you lose, you go all that way for nothing.

If you lose enough your going to figure out how to win. Call it experience.
The farthest I've ever gone for a tournament is Stockton, but I live there so it doesn't really count. :rolleyes:

tournements aren't worth going to if you always win (unless there's money :D)

Thats not what i meant by saying, what happens if u lose, u go all that way for nothing. What i really meant to say was, u want to at least stay for a while, not go there and leave in one day. And ya, ok. It might be experience when you lose, but if u lose to much then ur not getting any confidence either.

I have no idea the one tournament I wanted to go and enter my Shifu wouldnt let me. Some other students from other schools did and while it was fun to watch them hurt there opponents. They got disqualified for excessive force. My shifu told later he didnt let me enter to waste my money on a DQ for doing what i was training to do. Which would have lower my confidence in myself and art.

Losing only breaks you if you think you have nothing else to learn. At which point you have to stop and step back and learn again.

Yea, tournaments aren't really a place to win or lose. Its to evaluate yourself (or your kids) to see how their progressing. A shelf full of trophies or medals looks nice, but in the end the meaning is really minimal.
