I don't know if this is true or not but do people tend to eat more when they are recovering from an injury? I find thats the story with me.

I'm not eating really bad stuff, although I have found a craving for tuna, pasta, apples, water, juice, dark chocolate and ....... Coke. OK. I admit it. I can get through a couple of glasses through the day of the stuff. Ive been eating more than I usually do, mostly around dinner time. I have been sleeping more. Since I can't really get back into martial arts yet not until I get my leg fixed. I have been spending most of my time on the drum kit working out a sweat. I don't know however if thats a good substitute for the meanwhile as I have trouble using the bass drum (most of that is ankle and calf muscle work) I have this fear of waking up in the morning, looking at myself in the mirror and seeing this fat person looking back at me. Unfortunately I feel its starting to go down that way. I have always been a bit bigger than most people but now I'm starting to become worried. I want to get into swimming but I'm scared of people looking at me and I'm still walking around like a cripple.

What can I do for my diet and what are some good rehab exercises I can use?

Sorry for my rant but I do feel I need a little bit of help and guidance.

Thanks.

are you pregnant?

but seriously, you can form bad habits and you have to refrain from over indulging. try to keep your diet under control by leaving food on the plate, don't finish everything on the plate.

as for exercise, swimming or water aerobics is a good substitute for it's less of an impact and there is equal resistance on the joints. people with severe arthiritis and morbidly obese problems are put on these types of programs

You need to pucker up, get focused, have a bit of back bone and strong will.

Get up and go swimming, really, who gives a flying turd what other people think looking at you?

Dont let yourself go down the fat path. You are in control of it, its up to you.

Life passes by so fast, dont waste it.

Some people would give anything to one day be able to go swimming, play a drum kit, or choose what food to eat. Get some proper nutritional advice from the Doctor and stick to it.

All the best my love.

Fat loss or gain is 90% dependent on your diet, not on exercise, so don't think that you can't lose weight just sitting around. If you aren't in martial arts class, take that extra time to put yourself together a NUTRITION PLAN that you can enjoy and stick with (loosely at least) day in, day out for the rest of your life. If you want a diet tip here is the best one - eat at least 5 times a day. Each meal should contain one full serving of lean protein (20-30G for women 40-60G for men), and 2-3 servings of fruits or vegetables. if you want to lose weight, don't consume carbohydrates from sources besides fruits and vegetables, unless you have worked out recently.

I've started on a serious nutrition plan as dictated by precision nutrition. You can buy their package at the website by the same name (I've even got a thread about it).

I've used it and am having some success. I started about 3 weeks ago at 207 lbs and I weighed myself at 199.8 or so. Lovely. But it takes lots of work. Twice a week I sit down and generate a meal plan for the next 3-4 days, I go to the store and purchase everything I need and I go home and cook it/prepare it to be cooked, partition it out into daily meals, and finish any preparation I need for each day the night before.

My goal is essentially to have 5 meals planned out with healthy food on hand and ready to eat at all times so that I'm not hungry and tempted by unhealthy stuff. I'll add in a bedtime snack sometimes too, but I've been trying to control myself lately as I'm trying to cut weight.

If you want to lose weight and get healthy, you have to be serious. That means taking time to read, research, acquire the necessary materials, plan, prepare, etc . . .

It took me probably 20 hours to gear up and learn enough to start the plan and it probably takes me 10-12 hours a week for all my food preparation in tow, but considering that covers all of my ~35 meals for the week, it's really not that much time.

You have to gear up and get motivated and be ready to stay disciplined and somewhat organized.

P.S. This is just what works for me - your results may vary.

I'm starting to crack down now. I found ice-cream though in the frezzer had a few bites but at least I didn't eat half of the container!

I had half a bowl of musli and a small handful of nuts and some water and half a glass of coke.

I have to do better than that but trying to break out of the habbit is hard.

That sounds about like what I do Yohan. Dang, I feel stupid there was a place that would help me do this if I only knew that. I could have studied less, it took me a year to develop understanding of the correct foods. Not that I ate all the bad but often over consuming happened. I do my plan with a week and two days pre-made meals and planned so that I have enough protein well I think you get what I mean. Yes, I go so far as to cook them each my self!

Hapuka, you crave the chocolate because the theobromine(sp?) in it helps kill pain.http://www.reference.com/browse/wiki/Theobromine

Replace it with green tea.

What did you hurt? Your muscle right. It sounds like you need something for protein in there it usually helps with muscle injuries. If it is the joint you will need something like fish.

Yes any surgery or injury that is very traumatic will leave you feeling like you have a dry mouth and hungry to. It is the body setting up the request for more minerals and vitamin's. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=vitamin%27s

Certain Vitamin are needed for certain types of injuries and blood building. Which woman in-gereal need more blood building thing than men.
