I know to trully learn and be effective in a particular martial art style, one should be taught it from a master of that style. However Im in a situation where there are no dojos in my area. Could anyone recommend a style, along with any known resources that could help me try to learn and practice a martial arts style on my own? Thanks
If you filled in your profile details a little more, people may have a idea of your location, and might be able to help you find a place.
Learning on your own is really not recommended. I've been learning 3 years almost, and I do things wrong. To me, they look right, they feel right, but they're not. Its my instructor's job to correct me. If I didn't have an instructor, I'd think "OK, that looks/feels right" and carry on doing it wrong. Its hard to un-learn a bad technique once you've learnt it.

Buy a home study course off the internet. There are many styles now that have them. Most of them, u will video tape yourself and then send it in. They will let you know what your doing wrong in most cases. Theres a ninjutsu ad in most all blackbelt magazines, check it out. Good luck and if you want it bad enough and work hard you "can" learn on your own and I dont care what anyone says.
