i brought this up over at muscletalk.co.uk and they said that it was partially down to a weak abdominal wall and to strengthen it by vacuum training, stopping all slouching on chairs and to walk around tensing the abs.

I found this post from Bulk in another thread and wanted to see if anyone has tried this method? Would it be unhealthy? Worth it?

Not sure what you're asking. Vaccum training has been done for years as a way to suck in the waist/abdominals. When done as you see in the picture, it has the effect of making the chest and back appear wider, and thicker. The great thing about vaccum training is that it counter acts the abdominal muscles natural tendency to distend when doing most heavy lifting. Really helps with your core stability.

If you have more questions about Vaccum training, PM Incredible Bulk and I am sure he will be glad to answer them...

Well I guess my question is whether it really works as an exercise for strenghtening the abdominal wall or is it just good for a temporary pose...? And would it be unhealthy to practice this on a daily basis?

its a good exercise for strengthening the abdominal wall, if you sloach on the couch, have bad posture you will not be doing your abs any favours.

vacuum trainign is great for bringing the abs in, i know people with six packs but with guts as their abdominal wall is so weak

Yea I think that's the problem in my case too. I don't have a "spare tire" guts, but when I relax the stomach I can't see all the "packs" anymore, so I figured it must be the abdominal wall.

Thx.

i have a mini tyre round the waist (hey, its bulking season and there's mince pies about) and i still do the vacuum training.

when driving i suck in the stomach as much as possible, allowing small breaths and seeing how many miles i can hold it... if you drive past me i'm the constipated looking heffer. :D

I bet you've got people starring at you at a stoplight: WTF ?

I'm ending my bulking season at the end of this month, so the extra "healthy" fat has got to go.
