hi there guys, today i went to my local gym haven't been to any gyms in about 3 years due to medical issues and was down to 8 stone. I have got back upto 11 stone (71kg) now and started up taekwondo again which i had been doing for 2 years previously.

Well, i have been doing a little bit of working out at home not much only really light weights and i like to think im reasonably fit, i have a 4 pack and no fat. When i went the guy who gave me the personal training session was really helpful and knew his stuff, but the only thing i was worried about was the weights he set me to start with, doing;

15kg bicep curls
45kg leg press
30kg for a like pull down thingy for back
and 25kg for chest press
with c.v. stuff mixed in

All i wanted to know, for a 17 year old who has put weight back on from looking like excuse the phrase "someone very skinny" to average sort of size?

Just wanted to make sure im not like pathetic :P

Thanks in advance

http://www.crossfit.com/

The best place to go in my opinion is crossfit. It's the best website out there. A Workout Of the Day (WOD) is posted up every day. You should give it a shot. You might need to buy some minimal equipment. Most of the lifting stuff you should practice with a broom stick to gain form before moving on to heavier loads. You need to search and use the internet and all of it's wisdom to better equip yourself with knowledge... Use the search function on martial arts planet. Look at the forums in crossfit. Look hard and you will realize that all of the training you've done up to this point was better than nothing, but otherwise useless compared to crossfit's superiority.

Good luck.

I haven't trained properly for a while - thus my strength is steadily reducing, but I managed to put on about a stone and a half of lean muscle 'back in the day'. I basically set myself up a decent training plan that would first strengthen the muscles to training and then hit them hard every time.
The key thing to sort out is your diet, making sure that you get all the calories and nutrients you require to bulk up. I wouldn't say that Gym plan was ideal but it will get you started - in the end you have to set a weight that is sufficiently challenging otherwise you'll get nowhere.
