i understand that hapkido is koreean and jujitsu is japanese or whatever but is there really a difference between the two. Like if i were to get a reknowned black belt hapkido fighter, and a reknowned black belt jujitsu fighter, the only difference i would just off of them fighting is that supposedly the hapkido guy doesnt use resistance, and the jj guy does and advances off of that. Are there any other featuress that would distinguish these arts from each other to be able to tell them apart from each other?

There's so many different styles of jujitsu and hapkido these days that you might get very different fighters depending on the style.

And what do you mean by fighting? As in the demonstration stuff, "street fighting" or sparring/in the ring?

Hapkido comes from (Daityo-Ryu Aikijujutsu) so there are a lot of similarities. Granted, adding in differences between various schools/instructors in both arts, you will find lots of variations.

I've done some jujutsu seminars and worked with some jujutsu people on the mat... my impression is that the arts are pretty similar on a mechanical level, i.e. if you went to a school of the other one, you wouldn't have too hard of a time adapting to the differences.

To many jiu jitsu styles and to many hapkido styles to be able to say anything that wouldn't be contradicted by one of these styles.
So please be more specifiic, which jiu jitsu-style do you want to compare with which hapkido-style ;)

From what i've seen of hapkido i agree. Just one question.Does Hapkido you above mid body height kicks? (only ask because i know from training in other Krean arts this is the case). This would be the only main difference i could think of.

It depends on the school (dojang). Many, or even most have a full range of kicks (high kicks included). This does not however include all hapkido schools or "hapkido Kwans".
