I have a little bit of fat in the midsection that's covering the part of my stomach that will make me have a 6 pack. I want it to go away. I've been dieting, working hard and I think/know that if I kept it up for another month or so I would lose the little bit I want. I want to make it happen quicker because I'm anxious to start a mass building phase of working out that I am determined to hold off until I can see all of my abs.

So I'm sure most people reading the H&F forums know I do tabata as one of the core parts of my workouts. I've been looking into taking hydroxycut to help cut the little bit of fat I have left but in my research of it have read that it will amp up your heart rate. Tabata slams your heart rate into the "red zone" and I was wondering if anyone had any information on doing tabata and taking hydroxycut and if I will be in serious risk of having a heart attack or some other problems with this. Any help or direction is appreciated.

some pre workout products also ramp up your heartrate. i'd check out the ingredients of any preworkout stuff you take(if you take any) the regular hydroxycut isn't too strong as far as i know. if you take it, i'd of course use the dosage on the bottle as its a progressive increase from 3-6 pills a day to check tolerance. if it does it too much, i wouldn't take hydroxycut before tabata or other workouts that'll bump up your heartrate a bit. i know alot of people disagree w/ this and take fat burners before workouts as they say it increases affectiveness, but that also comes w/ a risk if you are sensitive to the ingredients in it. there are preworkout thermogenics that aren't gonna have as much adverse affect on the HR. the only ones that come to mind are GNC thermoburn, ultimate thermo pump, and a few others in the gnc pro performance line. i've got a friend thats tried some of GNC's cuz he didn't wanna spend the money on hydroxycut, and he liked it.

thats my 2 cents.

and i know how you feel. i feel the top part of a six pack comin in(the very top pair of abs) after 3 years of being off. its amazing how much 4 weeks of HIIT, tabata, hard work w/ heavy weights, and consistant healthy eating will do.

Sparkle, how old are you? I didn't see it in your profile, and if you're younger than 20 or 21, I don't think you need a thermogenic.

Also, if you haven't got a serious nutrition plan, you should do that first. The money you spend on the thermogenic would probably be better spent on something like Precision Nutrition

I'm near 20 years of age and I have a great diet. Sure I have the occasional hamburger and fries (we're talking maybe once a week here) but my main diet consists of fish, whole grain/wheat breads, various fruits and veggies, beef, cheese and eggs. I also eat 7 - 8 times throughout the day in small meals.

This week I really amped up my focus and I noticed a little bit more fat loss but as I said in the OP I'm ready to get this fat off now so I can start a mass building phase. I've been hitting Tabata and a good diet hard for the last one and a half to two months and have dropped a solid 20 lbs and ever since I started throwing weights into the mix a couple of weeks ago I've even noticed some muscle gain. I'm completely dropping the weights aside from doing some calf and forearm exercises so I can focus more on tabata and other HIIT training. My goal is to be one lean looking SOB within 3 - 4 weeks and I think the only way that's possible is going to be through taking a supplement to help give me an edge.

I believe this is my best option because I truthfully cannot cut calories with the stress of my day to help cut fat. I hang sheetrock for a living and and have been given the responsibility of being a cutman (dude who measures and cuts the sheetrock) which is a tough job as he's the guy running the crew. Since work has been slow we've had to take on jobs we usually don't take, like a 10,000 sq. foot house. Sometimes I end up cutting board for two different crews on opposite sides of the house! The only way I could hope to describe this is telling you to take a 75 lbs dumbell and run back and forth across at least 50 yrds for 8 hours a day. And THEN I workout afterwards. I think I can be confident in saying I need to eat a lot in order to maintain my abilities with workouts and my job and thus cutting the Cals. is not a good idea.

That said I have purchased a supplement called D4 Extreme from Cellucor and hoo! Talk about feeling a hit of energy and feeling warm. I've been on a mild stimulant (something called 5 hour energy full of B vitamins, enzymes and Amino acids) but this stuff is pretty strong stuff so I'm definitely going to watch myself. I'm just ready to get this last 10 or so lbs off me and need some help in doing so. I appreciate everyone's input and concern and when I tell you it was all taken into consideration I really do mean it. That said, we'll see what will happen.

Hey Sparkle,

I have one question that I think will help with the decision- why is the goal to be ripped in such a relatively close period of time? In other words, why 3-4 weeks? Why not longer? This is anecdotal, but in my experience, the expression that, "The longer it takes you to lose the weight, the longer it stays off" is accurate.

Your job sounds like it's very demanding, and as such you probably shouldn't cut calories, as you say. Are you drinking at all? If so, that's obviously gotta go.

Have you tried a really ketogenic diet, like the V-Diet? That might help. Also, if you aren't taking fish oil, then you should be.

If, after all the above, you think you still need HotRox, then it sounds like you're a someone who could use it. Take it easy with that stuff though- ramp up slowly with it, and follow the directions!

My goal to get ripped wasn't meant to be fast paced. I am actually entering around the third month of my training and I've already dropped 20 lbs of fat in the last two months. I am going to visit a friend in about a month and when I come back from the visit I want to start a mass building program. I'm visiting my friend in about a month, the time I've given to get the last bit of fat off.

I very seldom drink (we're talking about once maybe twice a year here) so that's not an issue and everything else has been as top notch as I can get it aside from having somebody else do it for me and directing me. As for dropping weight and having it stay off longer, I'm already at a good point that I don't mind. I would easily take my shirt off in public and not feel the least bit worried about my appearance. You can clearly see my obliques, serratus and top abdominals. It's just this little bit, the last bit that is being stubborn and I want to get rid of it so I've decided to go ahead with it.
