Being a a fairly exclusive japanese-culture type thing, I figured it'd be best here. If I was wrong, or if it'd be better off for answers in another section, someone let me know and I'll do something about it. Anyway I've had a shamisen for some time now and without any local teachers to be found I've been learning myself from videos and tabs snatched off the internet. If anyone could suggest a good book for basics that'd be amazing, but the question I wanted to ask here is: Does anyone knows how to play Sakura? I've found enough information on it to try learning it at this point (that being tabs and an example of someone playing it) but there're some notes that I'm not seeing right. At the start you repeat a set of three twice, then go 0-2-3-2 on the large string. After that it says to go 0-202, with the last note being on the middle string. Unfortunately that last note sounds completely out of place. When I hear it played it sounds like a note somewhere lower than the one before it. (which is also confusing, I have yet to find a way to play lower than open on the top string). Anyone have any advice?
