View Full Version : Buying MMA gear in the UK

I'm currently looking to buy a kimono/gi for training. The only problem is that here in the UK, there are only one or two places to buy a BJJ kimono from, and the minimum price is around £90 (around $154).

I have had a look at sites such as mmagear.com and brazilianfightgear.com, and they are offering no shipping charge for any orders over $30. From this, it would appear I can pick up a kimono for around £60 (approx $100), which in my opinion is an excellent deal.

The offer seems too good to be true, but I'm wondering if there is any catch to it. Has anyone has ordered from these companies before?

I've bought many things from mmagear.com - including my BJJ Gi- which was shipping free and took less than a week to get here!

I've bought loads from MMAGEAR ... very good and with free shipping to the U.K - Bargain !!

I'm thinking of getting a Gi myself .. anybody got any recommendations ?

Is it a good idea to buy a gi that is slightly bigger than normal? I've been told that the gis normally shrink in the wash. The problem is that I weigh 140 lbs, and am between two sizes! :mad: :confused:

I'd go for the larger size - they tend to shrink a little just the 1st time they are washed.

Shoalin GI. He's a cool guy and excellent grappler, though he speaks next to no English :)

I've ordered loads from MMAGear and BrazilianFightWear and so have my students. Zero problems so far and very fast delivery.

Also buy slightly over size, they will shink a bit first time of washing.

I got a MMAGear Official Shaolin Gold Weave Kimono.

The one I got had less "MMAGear" patches, but thats a good thing in a way!

I also like the fact that the trousers are padded too!
