Just a quick question just to ask you guys how much per week you's spend to stay healthy/train etc. i know you cant put a price on your health but i think it would be a good thing to find out. so if you could post a general run down of the costs of say your food, costs of training, cost of supplements etc it would be appreciated

Gym: Nothing - I train at home. Unless you want to count the initial £600 purchase.

Equipment: The odd £10 - £50 here and there for extra little bits (e.g. dip belt, chalk, rubber mats, to name some purchases this year.)

Food: Probably about 50% more than I used to spend before I started. Most of this extra is on quality, rather than quanitiy though, e.g. organic produce. Mind you I save a fair bit by not buying rubbish cereals, biscuits and cakes any more.

Supplements: Probably too much. :o I'm ashamed to admit I can be like a kid in a toyshop trying new things. I have a reasonable expendable income though. Maybe around £50 / month. Could easily be a lot cheaper if I were less impulsive though.

£3.60 a week (£1.20 3 times a week)

Pretty much it! I buy protein supplements but that's not a regular expenditure as they last a while!

Buy a big tub of Protein powder every few months, apart from that I have the same dumbells for a few years and when not using free weights it is all body weight and cardio - so £0.

Food, I would eat the same food regardless. Try to eat well, but do not get hung up about it either.

Gym: Nothing - I train at Cosmic's home. Unless you want to count the travel there.

Equipment: Nothing at all anymore, I've got more than enough bodyweight goals to hit before I start needing extra equipment. The last item I bought was a capsule maker, which was cheap.

Food: Mostly organic stuff, plus whey/milk protein concentrate. I think it works out cheaper when I take away the cost of takeaways.

Supplements: Not too much and far less than it used to be. I'm pretty much down to the stuff I see results from, protein powder, EFA fish oils, BCAAs and a nice multivitamin/mineral. My biggest of these at the moment is the EFAs, mostly because I'm taking between 15 and 20 a day but the results are pretty nice.

Hmmm, I think in the last two years I've spent £20 on a pair of drumbells. That's it. The rest is eating right and cardio/pushsups.

£16 a month for the gym (my sifu works there so I get half price) that's for my classes (body combat etc)
I don't spend much on food, £20 a week for 2 of us and generally get fresh stuff
Not on any supplements right now but that will change soon
Then £30 a month for kung fu classes. Then the odd bit here and there for stuff to train at home with.

Cosmic, can I come train at yours please too? :D

Profit? We work on a barter system, he lets me use his equipment, I make pointed observations about when he's wrong about something in return. ;)

Either you live on lettuce or i am seriously missing the trick here! I can easily spend £50 a week on food just for me.

This month i spent £90 on training, around £80 on petrol to get there, £30 on supplements and that's about it

We almost do! :D We eat a lot of vegetables and stir fries with tofu or turkey and don't buy lots of rubbish and tend not to buy ready made sauces and things.Barely drink either. I'm lucky in that I live within walking distance of the gym too.

Glad im not the only high spender here.

Between the £2.55 three times a week to get to the gym.
Theres usually a **** load of money i spend on food.
And all the others on here are saying that supps are a less frequent type of expenditure, but they are expensive, so id say a £5 a week on protein, £5 a week on creatine and with multivits and all the rest id say altogether its about £20-£25 quid a week on supps.

So possibly £100/month on supplements? I've gained around 45lbs of muscle in a few months by eating real food without supplements.....

Well done, But could this be more of a bounceback from the low weight you were at previously?

Nothing wrong with supps though! I usually only use them post-workout, apart from the odd protein shake at breakfast if i haven't had a decent source of protein

I didn't say there is. Just sometimes people spend un-necessary amounts of them. The idea is to 'supplement' real food, not replace it.
