Well, I just joined BJJ and I want to post this because the owner seems really nice. Well, my family really doesn't have alot of money. So the owner realized that when my mom said "i will have the money in 2 weeks, then il bring him back". So the owner said "well...since he interested and he is 14 and i know how impatient 14 year olds can be...ill let him go until you have the money". I thought it was really cool. I am the youngest one in my class, so when we were drilling i had to do it with an older guy, but he was nice and really patient with me. He gave me alot of tips.
I learned alot on my first lesson also. I learned a useful takedown, how to roll someone off of you (the grabbing there arm and hooking there leg, basically not letting them use the side you are rolling). And how to get out of ground headlocks. It was really awesome. It was also such a work out, I was sweating so bad. It was an hour and a half of drills. It was fun though.
If he cares more about your training than lining his pocket, then in my opinion that's a sign of a good teacher.
Nice to hear you're enjoying BJJ, welcome to the site :)

Thanks! There is also something every 4 months, he told me mom. (she doesnt know what it is) but the owner said it is expensive, and he knows my parents dont have alot of cash. So he said to pay for it i could just do some odd job for him.

Where's the school? Who's the instructor? The BJJ community is really pretty small, so it's possible that someone here trains with or near you.
We have a couple of youngsters at my school. Several in the 18-22 range. We also have a hobbit who just turned 17. He's been training for... about 1 1/2 years now and is quite good. There's also a 15 year old female who wrestles at her middle school and trains with us when she's not wrestling. She's good too.
My recommendation is to be serious and work hard. As the youngest person in your school, it's going to be up to you to show that you're there to work hard and learn, and not to goof around.
Good luck!!!

Sounds like a very decent bloke. You can usually gauge how good a coach he is, by how little he cares about money. Most good coaches fight to pay for the running of the gym, so getting a big influx of training fees isnt high on his priorites. Seems you've found a winner.
