i am just curious if anyone has any thing they use to keep their body fat low to increase muscle definition. if you don't know what muscle definition is, its the ability to see the muscle, like what Bruce Lee had: <<Hotlinked image removed>> i know weightlifting is a majority of it, but you can't see all those muscles if you have body fat covering them. so i was wondering if anyone has a diet or supplements to take to get your body fat lower and to have more definition of your muscles. thanks :)

i know work hard is a main factor in it, and i do alot of hard work into my training. i have good muscle definition i was just wondering if anything could add in the fat burning process around the muscles.

You can't "spot reduce" body fat, it's a total loss or not at all. The only way you'll really burn the fat off is to do lots of cardio and keep your diet clean. Definition will be enhanced by having bigger muscles, so weight lifting is a necessity and in this case the usual supplements like whey protein will be of help, but only if the training and diet is already in place
The "Bruce Lee body" is really unhealthy though, you need a bit of fat on there

DirtyHarry,
Sorry mate, but MAP has a no hotlinking images policy (owing to some sites turning them into pornographic images). See here (http://www.martialartsplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66257) for more info. So I've had to remove your Bruce Lee pic.

If you want low body fat, do Tabata sprints/rows two/three times a week, and cut a few hundred calories. Don't waste your money on diet pills.
In any case, you may not have the somatype to achieve extremely low body fat. But so what? Strength, endurance, flexibility etc are FAR more important. My BF% is naturally around 8-10%, but I'd trade it for a 500lb deadlift and the gas to go several rounds on the mat.
Take a look at Crossfit - if you can find a gym near you, so much the better.

sorry about that Cosmicfish, should have read the policy better. yeah you bring up a good point actually about being able to go seven rounds on the mat. maybe thats why i never got why all those UFC guys could last like 3 5-minute rounds but they still had like no definition in their body. any idea on how to achieve that?...or just actually do that lol. oh on the body fat, my body fat right now is 3.9% but im taking a very accurate one at this nutritional place on monday, should be interesting.

You're 3.9% body fat and you're asking about how to get more definition? Something's not quite right there. The only reason I can think that you'd be at that level and not be scary-ripped is that you've got tiny muscles ;) Hit the weights and EAT

Get their athleticism? Work out as they do. Again, Crossfit is a very good bet - their focus is very broad and there's a lot to keep you busy. Take a look at some of their guys and girls, you'll see physiques very similar to MMA athletes.

I doubt that 3.9% was taken with an accurate test such as skinfold measurement, sounds like it could be one of those bio-impedance machines. Otherwise at 3.9% you'd be ripped as a mo fo. I'm at around 9-10% and have pretty good definition.

i used one of those online body fat percentage test things, where you measure around your waist and all that. heres a link to a pic of me: pic at karate school (http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b245/ssjyamivegeta/P7080025.jpg) idk i wasnt too sure about the online test either, so im going in tomorrow to get an accurate reading at this nutritional place downtown.

Honestly, I wouldnt be caring about losing fat if I were you right now. Start lifting, get stronger and faster first!
And my estimated bodyfat % for you is 8-10%

Yeah i'd say around 8 or 9. Got a similar physique to my mate who is at 9%

yeah i took that "official" body test thing, stuck some sticky things onto my arm and it said i had a 12% body fat, so that online one was bull heh. but i like what welsh warrior said above about how he would trade a good body fat percentage for being able to last alot of rounds and gaining more strength. im not a health fanatic *eating burger king as we speak lol (mmmm bbq bacon tendercrisp)* but just i was looking for cutting some fat around the lower abs, and i know you can't spot reduction for those things, so i think im just going to drink alot more water and do alot more training :) the good ol' fashion way
