Good video from Zornhau in Germany showing dagger combatants sparring. A couple of disarms and takedowns in there.

As they're doing light contact sparring, they tend to end up in too many holds in the centre in front; when you do full contact sparring, many of the thrusts break throught the blocks in centre, IMHO.

Apart from that; the only thing I could pick on is that they circle to little.

I'm very impressed with how often they manage disarms holds and throws, compared to the times we do sparring, where we usually get cut and stabbed everytime we try anything more fancy than block-counterthrust :)

That was awesome. I'd love to learn something like that.

Looks really good. Lots of principles I can see that are the same as our empty hand techniques.
Good old osoto gari. I look forward to your posts on knife fighting.

Even so, they might know people who are in your area. The WMA community is rather close-knit. If you drop them an email, they might have some contacts outside of their organization. :)

I agree that this is very light sparring. As you well know, anything faster/harder is impossible to do safely without a face mask. If there is one thing for which this video can be dumped on is the lack of eye & mouth protection. Our sparring experiences are very much like yours, things end very quickly with a stab.
