* IMHO - based on what I've seen rather than read on the internet *

Like many arts it lacks training against fully resisting opponents who are free to do whatever it takes to mess up your game. I.e. do non EC stuff.

Functional weapons training is missing too - something that many WC people have addresses by training in FMA.

There are the butterfly knives and dragon pole which I am aware of.

But it's pretty far before you learn them.

I meant sparring with weapons that you can pressure test and are likely to come across in conflict - not forms and two man sets.

Putting it another way.
There is much to be learned within Wing Chun, but it's rarely all taught, rarely all understood, and rarely tested properly. ;)

This is not a problem exclusive to WC however!

Indeed - seems universal

Id agree with basically what everyones said previously but Id add that a lot of schools dont deal with ground fighting in any real depth and occasionally (and notice I said occasionally) kicking and kicking defences arent given the same priority as hand work.

Oh but in case your getting disheartened by any of this I think I should mention I dont think any of these problems/limitations are insummountable and certainly if your aware of them then you can just address them with your own training even if your own club doesnt!
