IRC access to chat?

Noticed the web-based chat system on the site.

Is this chat also accessible via IRC?

If so, server and channels?

Its not I'm afraid. The chat is PHP based, and not accessible via IRC. I think the likelyhood of channel takeovers and the like is a bit risky, plus it would be a hassle to set up and moderate, since its meant to be members only.

If you can't get the chat working, it runs on IE 6, and Opera 7.21, but not on Netscape :(

I'm 99% sure you won't be able to access via IRC.

So yeah... I'm pretty sure you can't do it. But feel free to try, could keep away Mr. Boredom for several hours ;)

Can view it in a browser (using Konqueror)

just alot more convenient to connect via IRC (as I idle on many other irc channels).

It would be possible to prevent channel takeovers if the actual IRC server was hosted by MAP (Server-ops, far superior than chan-ops :P).

Might also be able to tie forum nicks to IRC nicks using some form of NickServ bot.

But that'd be alot of work. So I'll just use a browser :P.
