Just saw on the Heinnie hayes website (knife retailer) in the clearance section they have some chain mail and gothic armour.
I know nothing more about it, just thought it might interest some of you

Thanks for the heads up but my new armour is already well under construction and I have a bit of experience in making maille for myself.
I have decided for safety reasons [!] to change from 14th C to 15th C armour, after seeing what happens when someone cops a lance socket in the face. And because every time I wear my bascinet I end up with migraines and a neck ache that lasts for days.
Equipment failure like this is not good and the 14th C offers little protection in the throat area even with a gorget things can get up underneath and the maille does not protect your throat enough IMHO. Ditto that for the arms, plus the stomach area is also not that well protected and accidents do happen.
So I now have an Italian harness under construction! I will be getting a complete cuirass [breastplate and backplate] this time to help me balance properly and provide more protection. It will have plate faulds and tassets.
The armet [helm] is nearly finished and weighs half what my bascinet weighs! The wrapper needs the breastplate finished before it can be completed so its a sort of chicken and egg situation. The maille aventail makes the old one so heavy, it also catches on the rest of the armour like the spaulders and drags as well.
I have also got some flat rivetted maille coming for a maille fauld, its a lot stronger than the butted maille I presently have and a lot lighter too.
I will have to do this bit by bit as the finances allow, but will keep my existing leg harnesses and eventually replace my arm harnesses as well.
