Hello everyone! I know this is a question constantly on the board, but i tried to do my own searching on the net and couldn't get any answers on JKD schools in CT, or who to go to.

I've always wanted to do martial arts, but haven't been able to because of time and money. The problem I have now is that I have work and am working on my Masters in college so I cant go to a facility that is too far away. Do any of you have suggestions on any facilities in CT, and if so, which one might have the best instructor? I know everyone teachs different, I just want to see who is known to be the better instructor. Thanks!

Eric

Hi SatchSRV .... welcome to MAP.

Are you willing to drive as far as Waterbury? That is quite the distance for you .... I also thought of "Practical Self Defense Training Center" too.

You say that you have always wanted to do martial arts... why only limiting yourself to JKD??

Progressive Street Fighting Systems of Milford (http://hometown.aol.com/psfsjkd/homepage.html)

Elite Jeet Kune Do of CT (http://www.elitejkd.net/)

And here is a school I have heard good things about that is also nearby to you

Connecticut School of Mixed Martial Arts (http://www.ctmma.com) in Derby

Or you can stop by the school I train at and check out Tae Kwon do (we are on the border of Trumbull)

Thanks Thaiboxer and KickChick.

As far as your question to limiting myself to JKD...we all have to start somewhere. There are numerous styles and techniques out there, so it's hard to figure out exactly what one should do. From what I've heard about JKD, it is always evolving and you find things that work for you. It sounds like a great concept so I figured I should probably start there first.

My brother used to do MA at some place in Monroe, but it was out of the guys house and he lost the number and isn't listed. I want to say his name is Mike Grasso? He doesn't teach JKD, but a variety of other styles (i remember him saying one was drunken monkey) and my brother said he was amazing...but, since I dont have the contact info I cant go there. Have you heard of him?

No sorry, I personally haven't but I will check with some of the guys at my school who are from Monroe and see what I come up with.

In the meantime, good luck in finding what you're looking for in a school.
