HG is one of 5 family styles. It is a Southern style which, if you can find this site, you can find much info on from google.

It's a style of Kung Fu based on principles of starvation. The idea is that once the practitioner has emaciated themselves enough they'll be so skinny they won't warrant attack from opponents. Hence the name... HUNGER.
Start Fasting!

Syd is talking about defensive Hungar. Offensive hungar is a mystical form that once was mainly practiced by health club owners but in the last decade has made a starling rise on TV infomercials. Basically these people can force others to starve themselves, weakening them severly. This is a very dangerous system.

Don't get me started about some of these whacky styles. Who can forget the nimble movements of Elephant Style?! You have to see their "Couch Potato Set!". Within this set there are various applications like "lean left and click remote" and "Shift right and fart".
This is considered an external art but later these practitioners move onto the internal HUNGER style. From external to internal.

Like it was stated earlier Hung Gar is one of the five family styles.Hung being the family name and Gar meaning family.
So Hung Gar= Hung Family.
The other family styles being. Mok,Lee,Choy, and Lau
Hung Gar is easily the most well known of the five southern family styles.Hung Gar was made famous by one of it's top masters Wong Fei Hung.Just about every Chinese Martial Arts movie made has had someone over the yrs play Wong Fei Hung.Jackie Chan and Jet Li have both played Wong Fei Hung in the movies.
Hung Gar is based off the moves of the Tiger from the Tiger Claw that WFH learned from a Shaolin Monk.He also added movements from White Crane to create Hung Gar's famous Tiger & Crane set.
But like was also said you can find alot of info on Hung Gar by just doing a search. There are many Hung gar sites that also have video clips of Hung Gar forms.

I thought that Hung Hei Goon created Hung Gar not Wong Fei Hung.

Well you're actually right!
But you'll notice i did'nt say that WFH created Hung Gar.I said it was made famous by WFH and other masters like Lam Sai Wing.I really did'nt feel like going into the whole story with Chee Sin and Hung Hei Goon so i cut it a little.

Is it not true that WFH added alot to the style that was not originally their?
I think i read somewhere that HG was a bit smaller before WFH.

Hung Gar contains 4 "pillar" forms:-
Gung Gee **** Fu (taming the tiger)
Fu Hok Serng Ying Kuen (Tiger and Crane)
Sup Ying Kuen (Five animals and five elements form)
Tid Sin Kuen (Iron thread or Iron wire)
Gung Gee **** Fu Kuen (taming the tiger) set is believed to be the closest representation of southern shaolin as taught at Fukien southern shaolin temple. This set was known by Hung Hei Gwun and is the basic core form of Hung Gar.
Wong Fei Hung added softer crane techniques to the predominantly hard tiger techniques of this style as jmd161 said. WFH is therefore credited with the Tiger and Crane set.
Five animals, 5 Elements brings in specific internal training and as sections based on Dragon (internal), Snake, Tiger, Crane and Leopard. The 5 elements are Metal, Water, Wood, Earth, Fire.
Tid Sin Kuen (Iron Thread set) originated with Tid Kiu Sam (Iron Bridge No.3) who was famed for his supreme internal strength. His training form was adopted into the Hung Gar syllabus. This is regarded as the highest form of Hung Gar.
There are other forms but these 4 are considered the true core of Hung Gar kung fu.
Hope this helps a bit.
