Hey guys, I did some more research and I've come to the conclusion I'm going to settle with Muay Thai as my standing and striking art. I was thinking of taking Aikido as well (I plan on cross training when nightschool is finished in january). What do you guys think? What could be another art I can take that won't conflict with my stance in Muay Thai? I thought Aikido is a great choice, what does everyone else think

Any grappling/throwing/locking style won't conflict with your Muay Thai.
So, JuJitsu, Judo, Aikido, Hapkido .... anything goes.

The Aikido stance is different from the Muey Thia stance. But you should have no problem learning or adapting to the training.
As mentioned before, any kind of grappling art works wonders for the standup routine of MT.

Some type of submission grappling art would be ideal - something that lets you practice under realistic resistance as you do in Muay Thai - something with realistic sparring.

i have had "muay thai + bjj = ultimate art" preached at me a lot, it might be worth a try.
But remember, its the art you love the most thats the true ultimate art.

MT plus Boxing plus Wrestling *freestyle G-R and folkstyle* plus Judo and BJJ/submission wrestling NO GI = best art.

i agree with yoda...a submission grappling style would do nicely. Whereabouts are you?? Judo would do nicely (if groundwork is incorporated in the curriculum of the school). If not then yea...Brazilian jujitsu will give you well rounded skills. Hmmm aikido emphasises alot on "softness", relaxing and giving way/harmonious energy, which MIGHT conflict with your MT, a more linear and direct approach to a fight. But it all depends on how you like and can learn things i guess...

if your thinking of taking aikido thats cool, but i think in many ways hapikido is a lot better with Muay thai, because its more faster and powerful.

actually aikido and hapkido, while fine arts, would conflict with muay thai.
because muay thai guys are just so used to hard contact training. BJJ is a much better compliment, because majority of training is done with fullforce sparring.
I say this from my own personal experience.
