i've been taking Tai Chi for only four months. I get the most joy out of the standing mediations (Yiquan). I'm only up to 20 minutes without breaking in most stances. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions to feel more 'chi' also has anyone read the book, Tao of Yiquan?
Thanks

practice practice practice always makes me feel it more and more...
i know that sounds simple and contrived but it really helps...
the other day i was doing this stance called "pee-chuan" with my friend jim... and even though i could feel the energy and where it was coming and going, it was a lot more difficult than when i used to do that mediation every day...
a good friend of mine once said, you must be able to turn it off an on *snap* just like that.... and the only way you can do that is by practice...
lastly, one cannot force it. Even moreso than lifting wieghts or other workouts where one can "push" it, somone cannot really push the cultivation of Chi. You put your time in, and it comes and grows... almost on its own.
and i heard that's a very good book, in fact i ordered it today :)
just my .02 , it seems to work for me...

I highly recommend Yao's method and affilated centres.
BTW standing practise is generally called Zhanzhuang (Post standing)and there are many methods of ZZ.Yiquan (Spirit/ Shadow boxing) is used in relation to the style of Boxing created by Wang Xiang Zhai.
The Warrior of Stillness books(vol 1 2) by Jan Diepersloot are good stuff,if you like these I think you would like
Qi Healing, Toshihiko Yayama, Kodansha International Publishing
hope thats of some use

You want to become more intune with your chi huh? Okay. First off, you have to be totally aware of your entire body, and be able to focus on any one part. For example, many people believe they can feel the tip of their finger, but the reality is they don't. When you feel sensation from an outside element then you feel your finger. What I'm trying to explain is that you have to be consciously aware of your entire being, almost constantly, even when your not thinking about it. From there you have to will your energy to do something, most masters will call this 'intent' you can't help but use power lest it escape you. Third, strong emotion will always help you feel your chi, we're spiritual beings and emotions are metaphysical. Try listening to music that you feel passionate about, and just use your chi, give yourself a purpose, give it a purpose, and that's it.
