Hi

Could anybody tell to a Kyokushinkai white-belter what would be the best Mas Oyama book for him for learning ???
... & are there better ones than "Karate Scool" ???

thanx.

Osu,

Try reading the following;

Mas Oyama's Essential Karate,

Kyokushin Karate - training and fighting -,

Have other but far too many to list...also try the various Kyokushin web sites.

thanx,
but ...

but..., but..., but isn't "Essential Karate" older version of "Karate Scool" (as well as "Complete Karate Course") ?
at least - some peaple in amazon has said so ... :(
& I was unable to find place where could order "Kyokushin Karate - training and fighting" ? The lord Amazon doesn't have it ! :(
Does anyone know place for ordering it ?

Is "The Kyokushin Way" pure philosophy-book, or is there also shown some karate basics & techniques ??

... let the force be with you all ...

Osu,

Yes "Essential Karate" is the older version but with many of the original pictures kept in and is printed on better paper.

The book called "Kyokushin Karate -training and fighting" is priced around the £20 sterling mark and its under the Nikko Toshogu Press, ISBN 90-72594-02-9, author is the legend Michel Wedel.

I just got 'Kyokushin way' from amazon.com! It is entirely about mas oyama's philosophy, and his view of this world. It's a great book. I think the best book about
kyokushin karate is WHAT IS KARATE 1958-1965, and THIS IS KARATE,and ADVANCED
KARATE.This 3books show us Oyama dojo before entering tournament system.
It is very hard to find this three books, although amazon.com have it,but very expensive copy.. WHAT IS KARATE 1st edition is $2500.00 in Amazon.com!

it's got some pics and some questions.. any contributions/opinions/ideas or stories are welcome.

 just took a look and there is someone selling these three on eBay right now... crazy prices. I'm tempted to sell my 'This is Karate' but I don't think I will because it is a beautiful book and I've had it a long time... instead I'll keep my eyes out at charity shops and car boots for other Oyama hardbacks... with a view to turning a profit!

I certainly think that "This is Karate" and "Advanced Karate" are some of the most interesting and in-depth Karate books that I have ever seen, regardless of style practiced these books are real collectors items.

Unfortunately my copies are now very old and are in the Philippines. Maybe I'll bring them back on my next trip! :D
