Hi!
My friend talked me into taking a Tang Soo Do Class in a dojo run by Grandmaster Ed James (info, anyone?). I've never heard of this style before. Ever. I've previously studied Kung Fu and a bit of Karate. I'm not really a martial artist, but I AM a fight coreographer.
So I was wondering...since I am in the class already...WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST GET MYSELF INTO?
Thanks!

tang soo do and mu duk kwan are styles of taekwondo - more traditional styles...i used to do mu duk kwan
also, being korean arts, you would have been taken to a dojang, not a dojo :)

Gomennasai...my Korean is rusty. Wait, not rusty, INEXISTENT. But hey, like most other martial arts, this'll probably add more than a few words in my vocabulary, eh?
So how did YOU enjoy learning Mu Duk Kwan? Any high points and low points that you found?

don't know what Gomennasai means...
thank you sounds something like komsumnidar, phonetically speaking of course
mu duk kwan was alright - the one i did was very traditional, but having said that you can always learn something from any martial art, whether you have studied it before or not
i currently do hwarangdo, it seems like the hwarangdo in america is based around tang soo do, so you might be better off staying with that...
comparing the hwarangdo i do now with the mu duk kwan that i used to do, i would say mu duk kwan is a bit slow and some of the kicking techniques are a little too easy to pick

Gomennasai = Sorry [Japanese].
A little side note, the friend that dragged me into it has been studying Wing Chung for a good fifteen years now. However, I always manage to land a blow at one of his vital points whenever he's in the middle of a combo (e.g. Rolling Punches). Out of all the martial artists I know, I am the only one who can actually HIT him...and I don't even consider myself "good". Hell, I've actually taken a liking to being swept across the mat during arm lock demonstrations :-P
