Hey everyone. I have been wanting to take up a martial art, and wanted to learn escrima, but it was suggested I learn an empty hand martial art before I go into weaponry, and I am starting to agree because I want to get the all that I can get (physiclaly fit, more mind control, experience, muscle memory, etc). I loved the few kickboxing classes that I took over the summer but had to stop because I went home for a slight emergency. Can anyone make a suggestion as to what to look for in a school to make sure I don't get myself into a "fake kickboxing school". I have read how some places offer classes and all, but to be aware when they start doing a lot of pad work, etc. Thanks everyone I appreciate this.. I can't wait to start again! : )

Check out this school. You will learn empty hand and weapons here, and it is most likely a very good school that is not profit oriented. They study martial arts for art sake. And it is in Gainsville.http://www.geocities.com/usagojukarate/gainesville_dojo.html
