This is a video thread regarding CHOY LEE FUT SPARRING and COMBAT. Not forms, but sparring/drills/bagwork/techniques/etc.
If you have a video, POST IT HERE. If we have a lot, I'll try to make this a sticky.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fn1-ufRv5Y
One thing to note regarding this first video, there's some cool padwork footage once you get a bit further along into the video. :)

If you have more, go ahead and post them. And feel free to discuss any clips, but post the clip so we know which one you're talking about. Thanks!

Just a couple, from our Bak Sing friends in Australia:
(Yes, it's a balanced wooden dummy set)
http://home.iprimus.com.au/choy/clf/video/geni_chingjong.mpg
Some light contact sparring:
http://home.iprimus.com.au/choy/clf/video/raul_light%20contact.mpg
The site I got these links from is: http://www.choyleefut.com.au/update/gallery.asp
I wish the videos were longer and more detailed, but what can you do?

Looks like they're doing applications and some sparring training, along with 2 man drills. It's actually a preview for a DVD, but it looks interesting. Maybe I'll go ahead and grab the DVD later this month.

The sparring below is from what I think is a CLF school at:
http://www.floridakungfu.com
They're of San Shou sparring:

http://www.floridakungfu.com/sanshou2wmv.wmv
http://www.floridakungfu.com/sanshou3wmv.wmv
It looks like generic San Shou, though, to my n00b eyes.

I quit Hung Kuen because I didn't end up liking the teacher. Anyways.
Just working on my CLF basically. I am currently learning Fu-Pau Kuen via DVD . . . my Sifu's DVD of the form. It's relatively since I know all of the basics.
I'm currently going through a "form crises" stage where I practice a crap load of forms because I feel like my CLF is kinda falling apart without them. Plus I'm trying to un-learn some of the kickboxing stuff because I haven't practiced anything in a while, and I just to focus on CLF. Also doing much conditioning, etc, so I can prepare for a Kyokushin tournament in July.

oo if u cant get along with the teacher then its better to leave :D
but HG works well alongside CLF :D
forms are always important in CMA's lol... to move like a CLF fighter u need to practise the forms ... or else - in my case- the techniques become sloppy :D

Just found this thread, didnt even know it existed! Some cool footage allready posted.
Good 2 hear u liked the video bek, hope everyone else does.
Have 2 more videos that i think you will like.
The first is mostly applications with a tiny bit of sparring in the middle. I know theres a few small segments of forms in it, but its mostly applications.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZCOlCSKh31A&mode=related&search=
The second video is a mixture of applications and forms, but if you just want to see sparring skip to the 2;50 point of the video, which is all sparring from various events up until the 4:10 point. Also, the movie footage is from Jackie Chans 'Mr Nice Guy', and the actor with blonde hair is Gary Shambrooke, a Buk Sing practioner.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=NmfgLD0Vw-I&mode=related&search=
oh, and if these videos have to much stuff in them other than sparring and applications let me know and ill take them down.
Enioy.

Hahah! I noticed in one of the videos, the guy used the ever popular poon-kiu to sow-choy combination to knock someone out. It ain't picture perfect, it wasn't a full circle, but it did the job of leaving the opponent bloodied and bruised on the mat.
I've personally never gotten this to work, good to see someone doing it with effectiveness.
Effejy
29-Jun-2007, 04:29 AM
yeah its an awesome move, and its good to see someone use it effectively. After watchin the second clip again i just realised you hear (at the 3;42 mark) the guy whos filming say 'the other guy's wing chun, the one in the blue', straight after this the guy in the blue cops a masive front punch to the head.
I thought id post this up as well, another from one of Jackie Chans movies, he must love working with CLF guys!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UElFedQX_Oc
I have another CLF fight scene against Jackie from a different movie, but ill save that one for later, can't be posting them all up at once.
Enjoy.

Here's a video of me. Not my best performance...one of my worst actually, due to a lack of training during the school year, but I competed anyways since I got the day off. Please don't laugh too hard. =)

LOL @ the guy behind you with the sword.
Nice form by the way. Some of the moves toward the end remind me of a Hung Kuen form I do called''Lau Gar Kuen'' w/ the butterfly palms and unicorn steps.....
One critique if I may....
Try to put more intent behind the blows like you want to F em up.......That's it.
Kudos for posting.

Thanks Bandit, yeah, that guy behind me...hehehe!! i didn't notice till after i watched the video! hahaha!! yeah, I know what you mean with puttin more intent on the blows, but i was waaaayyy too tired by the very end, and the beginning, i was actually trying to conserve energy so i can last the whole form!!!! hahaha! pathetic, i know!! hahahaha!! Me and my sihing actually "cut & paste" parts of the form so that I can do it in 1:20 and under....(cause I can't last longer than that and to prevent ppl from recording and copying the original form), and the original form, the ending moves are much smoother.

Just watched gwa_sau_chap's videos. Great forms! Wish I could get my forms to look like that. Check out those low horse stances. Yikes.
In the process of checking out the vids, I just happened to see some San Da vids from some of our cousins in spain:

Looks like that youtube user actually has a LOT of San Da videos, so I won't bother positng the rest. There's a holiday coming up so maybe I'll just watch them all in one sitting. :)

I thought it's about time us CLF got another addition to this thread, and thankfully my Sigung has released another video, so here it is.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NORhm6S5r9o
The first couple of minutes is of Sigung when he came to Melbourne a few months ago, showing us some of his applications, check out his speed when demonstrating, and that's no even at his quickest!
The rest of the video is of a National Kung Fu tournament. Some awesome bean choi's in this vid which i know Beknar will love. Check out the one at the 5:41 mark, and the guy who gets K.O'd by a bean choy at 8:54, quality stuff.

Yes he is, but it doesn't mean anything, really. Great video compilation with your last contribution, by the way! While trolling through the related vids section, I came across a compilation of Chan Family CLF fights:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=TZN_Yr1Ka_8
Very blurry, but the movements are recognizeable. It's stuff we do in class all the time, applied to sparring, and stuff I do in sparring all the time. I dislike the Michellin-Man getup, but I guess for insurance reasons, they had to have it.

Haven't used MAP since it's been updated itself, so heres hoping the videos work.
The first is another installment of Buck Sing, some of the footage compiled is from the workshop i attended when Sigung David Lacey was in Melbourne Last year.

The second video is from a Sifu from the States who i know little about but his technique is fantastic and so are his videos. Theres about six of them, but i'll only post one for now.
