What are these two forms of martial arts, and what should one expect from them?

different branches of karate
Isshin ryu is Okinawan.
Kyokushin is Japanese.
Expect to do kata, basics and sparring ;)
Here's a couple of links you may find useful
http://www.ifk-kyokushin.com/kyokushin.htm
http://w3.trib.com/~smammon/isshin.html
I can't count for the accuracy of the data in the 2nd link, because I know nowt about Ishhinryu, but the first link is a good introduction to Kyokushinkai.
Expect to do basics and sparring mostly, kata isn't the biggest focus of the art. As you get more experienced, you'll do full contact knockdown sparring.

Osu,
Kyokushin is Japanese?...you will find the ethos behind it is both Japanese and Okinawan with many principles of the hard & soft schools and that of Shoto and many others. Just because we do or say things in a Japanese text does not mean we are Japanese.
Osu.
