Hi guys i'm having some problems when training i seem to be ripping my feet apart on the floor i think this stemmed from the time i trained just after playing five a sides. does anyone have any recommendations about MA footwear.

Wrestling boots!

Good ankle support - good for use on or off mats.

I get mine from Specialist Sports Shoes (http://www.sports-shoes.net/shop/section.asp?sectionid=318&catalogue=2)

Current pair - Adidas Protactic

I haven't found it a problem - even with Thai kicks which require more pivot than most. In fact I'd say they're better than trainers in this respect.

I would say to wait until your feet heal.. and then use them again!
The only way to toughen your feet is to keep using them. If you get a blister, just wrap some white sports tape around it until it's healed and won't bleed when you stretch it, and then take the tape off and use your feet again.

Anyways, I have a pair of Pine Tree shoes (http://shop.store.yahoo.com/martialartsequip/pintremarars.html) but they aren't the greatest because the soles are slightly smaller than the width of my feet, so it tends to easily bend my ankle if I step down wrong. I would get a pair with more ankle support like a high-top.

I have used several brands over the years and now have a pair from a company called "Discipline" They are a newer company. Specific for Martial arts, they have the ankle support and flexation of wrestling shoes but have a hard rubber sole so they pivot pretty well. Also heel end of the shoe has a cut out at the ankle that alows a bit more movement for front kicks and such.

i trained at a dojang in which there was a tatami, so i trained bare foot. now i teach in a dojang with a wooden floor and i wear TKD shoes sometimes. i am really satisified with them.

Another vote for wrestling shoes. I've used racquetball and running shoes with good results as well.

Pansy.

If there's one good thing about bare foot training, it's how tough your feet get.

Strolling barefoot across the sands of Venice beach, while all the muscle guys had their sandals on in 97'

The chics were amazed I tell ya. :D

The sandals at Venice are to stop the hyperdermics sticking in your feet Andy :D

We have to use our bare feet! but when we're sparring, we wear foot pads, but they only protect your toes

Hmm that pic= Bad tourist trap :D

I've always gone bare foot on the floors but I used the Adidas Tyrints for outside the dojang training. But I agree with Andy, toughen up your feet :p

Try the ADIDAS Tikrid or Akrid models the have a half leather half rubber sole that work really good for kicks and they also have ankle support, I use the for 2 years now and havent had any problems

I have the Jaewoo Mid - The boot, got them shipped across to Scotland from the states via www.ckd.org.uk as no where in the UK sells the boot, Bytomic sells the shoe (but not the boot)

I like them, although could do with a better insole - the are great for training in cold halls in the middle of winter in scotland - lol

Hi,

I've been considering the purchase of the Adidas TKD 2000 fir a while (don't laugh, it's for weekends out of town where I train in a barn. Yes, a barn) However, based on this thread I had a look at the Discipline line and now I'm torn. Does anyone have any recommendations for which is a better shoe?

Cheers,

i need a shoe that supports if you jog like 3/4 mile to class and walk back and don't give shin splints. i think the disciplines look nice.

I just orderd some discipline Jaewoo Mids, I found a JKD school in Florida who had them $15 cheaper than everyone else so I called him and they are on the way!
