I'm thinking of starting kung fu, and I was wondering what I should be looking for in a new school.

For one thing don't call it a dojo, that is sacrilige, on a kung fu forum. Its called a 'kwoon', dojo is for japanese styles.

....or if you want TRADITIONAL Kung Fu - It'll be called something like "garden" or "shed"

lol, 'dojo'! thats exactly what i said when i first started out in kung fu.

you need to make sure that your Sifu is qualified and approved by whichever country you are in, and that you are comfortable with them. its the Sifu that makes all the difference in the kwoon i believe.
my kwoon isn't fancy or anything, but the quality of what i am being taught is up there with the best of them, so you don't always have to go for something that looks fancy.
