View Full Version : Working solo
Hi, just joined, I'm into MA but don,t have alot of ops to train with everyone esle in the dojo. So I thought it would be a good idea to mantain my cardio and form using the heavy bag. Which brings me to the question at hand/foot. Suggestions regarding heavy bag workout/combo materials or references would be wonderful. :confused

Well 2 days ago i went in to a woman's house she saws for living you know ( shirts , pants and other stuff ) and i told her to saw a huge human form doll ( 100 kilos look like ) it will work for me in my arts.
:) I share the idea with you maybe you can use it too.:p
I have access to heavy bag, speed bags and timing bag, I'm just looking for combo suggestions so I'm not just flailing away at the bag ei...left: jab,jab right: hook to the body, right front push kick stuff...blah,blah,blah. something with a bit of structure. Not interested in any Matrix moves I can't bend things with my mind as well as I used to. All suggestions are welcome, much thanks Spawnpain.

Hi VTX
Before moving onto combos work on single shots until you are proficient at them. The way I see it if you cant throw a good single shot then your combos are waste of time.
One training routine I used to do was 2 minute rounds with a 30sec break
1x2min jab only
1x2min cross only
1x2min lead hook only
1x2min rear hook only
1x2min shovels only
all the time working on footwork and can be varied by punching high or low. remember this also teaches the range required for each type of punch.
This is a good warm up before moving onto the combos.
Hey Doc, what do you mean by rear hook, this is a term I'm not up to speed on?
Well, I had to do some consulting, but now I know what is meant by rear hook. Live and learn thanks for the help.
Does anyone have any suggestions for focus pad drills that could be modified for use on a heavy bag?
