In all honesty r u angry at the amount of black belts at such a young age and that have the crappiest form.

Ive been training for 8 years in the martial arts , 3 years taekwondo , 2 years kickboxing but more like muay thai , 1year aikido and 2 years Kung Fu/ Shao Chi Chuan style , and dont have a blackbelt yet and i see in magazines 8 yearolds with 2nd dans and most of them are from this stupid style called XMA , xtreme martial arts :bang: . This is really a disgrace 2 martial arts . To be honest though i do tricking and have done for about 2 years , but dont call it a martial art even though some kicks are derived from differnet martial art styles i do it more for fun and 2 show off haha.

Even if they know how 2 do every physical move perfect , i still believe that to be a proper blackbelt u also need 2 be mentally a blackbelt 2.

When i become a teacher i am not going 2 let under 18s become a blackbelt.
If they r mentally ready and r under the age of 18 then id reconsider.

R there any masters/ teachers out here that have a different view?

and R there any masters that agree with some things im saying?

I would be quite interested 2 hear masters views .

ps. no arguments please :)

A couple of thoughts, anyone who'd give a BB to a 5-6 year old is only in it for the money. Plus, why have you done so many styles and not stayed in them long enough to get your BB? Just curious.

I agree with you fully children have no right to own a blakc belt or be lead to think they are i started when i was 18 i am 19 now and i am no where near ready to be a black belt mentally or physically. I believe that being a black belt is a life style not a hobby and should be treated as such. If you asked a child if they would trade thier black belt for a years supply of candy 90% of them would say yes

Our school has it set up so that up to age 7, our yougest age range you can only go to purple belt, though honestly I have never seen anyone make it past orange and only a few make it that far before age 7 and the transition to the next class.
The next class runs from age 7 to 14 or 15 (we sometimes move up the 14 year olds who are simply getting to big to work with the rest of the students in the class. In this class it is possible to get a JR Black Belt but thus far in 5 years there has only been 1 and she came to our school with a black belt from another art. These Jr Black Belts then have to test up thru the adult ranks when they transfer to that class, though it is usually at an excelerated pace. All told if you start at age 4 our youngest you may get a Jr Black belt with hard work in about 8-10 years with another 1-3 years to hit full black belt once you transition to the adult class.

Even for the adults the path to black belt will usualy take from 5-8 years depending on natural talent, dedication, etc...
