Hello, I am new to the martial arts world and I am about to begin searching for a school. However, as I scroll through the yellow pages there are so many schools in Chicago to choose from. Attempting to visit all of them does not seem realistic. That is why I was hoping to narrow my search by first obtaining some insight as to which schools offer both a) instructors with strong lineage or b) schools with strong traditions . Does anyone have any advice?
I haven't selected a prefered style as of yet b/c I don't believe I know enough yet.
Please advise.

Lineage is not a good judge of how good a school is.
Sometimes it seems that the ones that talk the most about there strong lineage do so because they have nothing else to talk about...

Paratus,
I live in Bucktown and I work in the Loop. As long as the school is in chicago I am not too concerned with the travel and I am not particular to an area.
Any suggestions?
