If you practice ninjutsu/ninpo and go to a halloween or costume party, please! don't dress as a "ninja"

I certainly wouldn't do that -- the general public already has too many silly misconceptions about ninjutsu -- no point fanning the flames!

Why not? It's the easiest costume there is next to going as a ghost :D

Nah, it's easier to go as a bum -- just put on your rattiest old clothes. Of course, I would go as a cat -- easiest costume of all. ;)

Actually, the easiest costume there is is that of the Naturalist, although I think that I would only get invited to the more specialized Halloween parties wearing that :D

i think i will dress up as a ninja...misconceptions are fun!
today a kid in my AP (that's right, AP :D) world history class told a story about how martial arts were created in china...specifically, ninjutsu. a friend and i almost lost points for laughing during his presentation.

the sooner people forgets the movie ninja, the better! its sad but I still see people coming to a dojo wanting to learn how to disapear in a puff of smoke. Lets not fed this image, have a little mor respect for the uniform (your gi), and your weapons! Im sure you can think of a lot or reasons for not carrying weapons to a party (I did once, big mistake) I may be over reacting but its just a way of looking at the uniform, I like to give a little mor meaning to what I do, and the uniform that represents it.

do you think that if you do martial arts (especially ones that have the club logo on the uniforms or the person's name embroided on their black belts) and wear your uniform for a fancy dress party, etc that you're looking for trouble and that other people on the street would pick fights with you to test you out?

That depends, they usually talk to you first, to see if you are a show off or humble or to test your confidence. Its not so much the uniform and belt color as it is you attitude what makes you a target for fight pickers

I think you'll find that naturalists are specialists such as David Attenborough who make nature documentaries.
Naturists are human purists who wander around as God intended.

Aha! In the USA, we often call them "nudists". Not a Halloween "costume" I will ever attempt, by the way! :D

No matter the occasion it is always unwise to wear your ranking outside of the training environment. It is simply any invitation for a fight with an average bar brawler type.

:o Actually, since cats have quite lovely, permanent fur coats, that's all the costume I need! Cats are natural ninjas, you know.

Well thats true. One of my cats you'd love, can't wait to sneak up on you when your not looking. He absolutely terrorizes my dog....I honestly think the cat smiles at the dog also....

LOL! Cats do smile! And my cats are incredibly stealthy. Perfect Halloween cats -- both black.

Naturists are nudists who aren't on heat. Nudists do it on the beach to show off whilst naturists go to naked community locations/events just to be allowed to get on with stuff without the hassle of clothes.
Naturalists might study naturists whilst nudists are most likely to be studied by onanists. You are advised to do your own research! :D
