Hi all,
As some of you may know or remember I started studying modern arnis about 1 and a half months. But saddly I had to stop my training because of some personal problems my teacher had. He told me he may have to be out for about 8 months - 2 years and that he would contact me as soon as he could to continue training, but I would like to study another art in the meantime. I'm interested in Muay Thai, American kempo, shaolin kung fu, jujitsu and Wing chun.
I started looking for schools and came upon a Muay Thai, shaolin, jujitsu and wing chun schools. I didn't find any info about the Muay Thai school, but I did find info on the other 3 schools and this is what I found out:
Jujitsu school: The main instructor has over 30 years of experience and is a black belt with high ranking in multiple styles of jujitsu. I was thinking that I could take the jujitsu clases since they are on monday, thursday and friday and on Tuedays take some Kali "concepts" at a near gym.
Shaolin kung fu: The master has over 30 years of experience, has an 8 twan:confused: degree in shaolin, also teaches wushu and alot of other stuff.
Wing Chun: Same situation, over 30 years in experience too:eek: but I haven't yet visited the school so I can't tell you anymore.
I would like to know what would you guys do if you were me? I'm looking for an EFECTIVE system that would work really good on the street. At first when I first started looking at MA I was really into grappling, but know that I got a dose of MA's I really liked the striking and fast movements in Modern Arnis. That's why I would complement jujitsu with some philipino concepts and wouldn't do it if I choose one of the kung fu styles because I may get confused. I don't like to do(but enjoy watching) fancy kicks and stances, I just like to do effective moves and go directly to the point. I've heard that shaolin has alot of fancy moves and high kicks and that's why I looked for wing chun which I have heard uses alot more the hands and low kicks(which I think suits me better) unlike shaolin kung fu.
I'm currently leaning towards jujitsu with some added kali training(once or twice a week), but I do like the two other styles. Please lemme know which of the above would make me a better MA artist and would be the most efective system for the street? All of the instructors are really great and none of them is bluffing about their experience and I think that's my biggest problem. I know they're all good and I would like to train with all of them but I cant:( please help me out!!!
Thanx
