Hi everyone,
I just thought i d post this thread under PROBLEMS since this is the only forum i know. i ve been having some problems with my computer since i last formated my hard drive.
My operating system is Windows 2000 pro.
I have enough ram installed.
And 40gig harddrive.

Sometimes when i shut down my computer, it shows the blue screen of death with a message saying....

Begining dump of physical memory
physical memory dump complete.

Then i have to restart using the reset button.
Sometimes it shuts down alright.

Anyone know wot this is?

Maybe time for a re-install

Looks more like hardware to me, in that case a re-install won't help.

I would say it could be two things:

1. Your RAM is faulty,
Or...
2. Your Hard Drive is damaged.

Take it to a PC repair place, they should fix you up.

Scan it for a virus.

MSBlast for instance will sometimes show a blue screen of death.

Hmm....I suppose it could be a virus or a RAM prob I dunno....

But I do think "beginning dump f physical memory" could probably mean all the contents of RAM are being copied to a file or something....that will give you something to start from...

Try replugging your PC, if that doees'nt work [mostly should'nt] then select "repair" from the win2k install CD, also try disabling hibernate from power options......will have to take a look around though for your problem...

This happened to a friend's computer a few days ago. It is a hardware problem, in his case it was related to the BIOS but i suppose it may also be caused by the RAM.

This is a RAM problem under Win2k. As far as I can recall, it can be fixed by replacing one of the faulty ram modules.

Try registering here www.protonic.com and asking them for help.

That was a link to give someone help! He said he didn't know any Computing forums, so I gave him a helpful site.

Just because I happen to be a technician there... :D
