Can anyone give me any ideas or point me in the right direction for drills to practice alone. My MA school only teaches BJJ twice a week right now and I sometimes cannot make a night due to my work schedule. My school also teaches Tae Ch'uan Tao on the other nights which I participate in and sometimes my instructor will teach me grappling maneuvers because he knows why I am really there. I workout regularly and run and am in good shape but does anyone have any drills they use to help build stamina while sparring? Obviously it is kind of difficult to practice submission holds at home (my wife and 3 year old son do not like being practiced on). Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks

That is A tough question!
It seems that there's no other choice than finding yourself a spar-
But perhaps, there is other way...
besides the non-human parts to counter up with. I think it would be best if you try for new methods that you never had in your training.
Submission-? I'm not sure if you hug even a sandbag you'll get the same satisfaction--
Well, instead of being desperated and dying alone...
I've been practicing for most of my time, alone- yes, I do not have much time like others. And to at least throw my worries away, I concentrated more on 'what I can do now' and not what 'I expect to be/have in the future'. Right now I only believe in what I can take and learn for myself.
Rather than kept on waiting for someone to help.
Since the most important skill in submission is
- Strong grab
- Body elasticity (please correct me if there's any mistake)
It'd be best if you train more in the two aspects-
You may be not the fastest one when practicing the submisssion (due to the complex situation), but I assure you, you still can have the best palm grab and body movement.
Yes, even though basic is everything, it's still best to meet with real people. But at least, you had a confidence in what you can do the most. And that's vital essence in a fight.

i walk up to people on the streets, and just throw them in a triangle sometimes...well, no i don't, but it'd sure as hell be fun.
you can buy grappling dummies, but the problem with those is that they don't resist...still good for practicing the techniques for speed, though. i recommend your wife. but be gentle! :D
