Hello everybody, nice to meet you all. I took Washington Shotokan Karate from 1995-2001. (Anyone here been a student there?) As you can see, I'm not a complete beginner, but I quit a couple years ago. I'm rusty and out of shape now. :(
I'd like to get back in to some short of shape. I'd like to be agile and flexible, seems to be the only way to go. (I'm 162cm/5'4", and around 60kg/130lbs.)
What are my options for increasing flexibility and agility? (Besides stretching)
*edit*
Also, I did mention out of shape. :) Any specific exorcises to get thinner?

Hi,
Are you looking to go back to Shotokan or take up a new MA?
Any specific exorcises to get thinner?
Yes, exercise restraint in the kitchen! :D
If you've not been training for a while start of with something light impact like swimming or cycling and then build it up from there.
Good Luck.

Stretching is the only way to go for flexibility do it regularly and you'll notice the difference

I don't plan on going back, but I might. It would be nice to see sensei again. I was thinking about taking up some sort of sport, kendo looks pretty cool.
I didn't know if there was a specific martial art that focuses on flexibility and agility, as they seem like contrasting abilities.

Hey Drifter
If you don't want to strech to get more flexible just try a more demanding partner (in where you sleep).
But with all fun and laughter on the side you can only do these things through work. It's does not have to hard work just try a little something 1 or 2 times during the week and you will notice the diffrence.
Or buy a book get perfect in 20 days ;)
