I wondered if there are any illustrations clarifying the techniques in the original manual.

I do not. If you don't find illustrations, I recomend you try to draw "cartoon-stripes" based on his descriptions. His precautions in the first section should be the basis for how your characters should be dressed and how the base-stance is. I've often used my own drawings in Fiore and I-33, to get a different angle to stances and understanding of technique.

If you have someone to share/discuss your interpretations, that's all the better. Good luck with finding some original pictures!

I'm sure I've seen one illustration which shows the author grabbing his antogonist by the collar(?) and the seat of his pants before throwing him out of the local inn!!!

Now where did I see it?????
