Do any fighting games depict "realistic" versions of the arts they portray? Exaples are Hwoarang from tekken series is/isn't using realistic, effective TKD? Is Ryu from street fighter usin shotokan (other than hadoken)? Is Bruce from Tekken using real Muay Thai tecniques? Do any game chars live up to their real life MA counter parts? ANY realism?

Video games are supposed to be fun and stylish, making them real takes the whole fun out! :D

The problem is that when they get these guys to model for the games, its always the flashy twirling spinny things that appeal to the games developers - not the realistic things.
But it would be pretty boring to the game playing community if all that happened in these games was a few kicks and punches. Just look at how badly UFC games sold.

Yes, I know a "real" fight would look pretty ugly, but I was wondering if the fancy tecniques have real life counterparts (ie. Hwoarang does some combos, swithces stance then kicks. Is there a flamingo stance in TKD? Of course your MA is diff. for everyone, just wondering if there were katas or evidence for any move combos in a game. Probably not though. Just wanted to know if it was possible to get a fighter to preform real combos (make the TKD guys do real TKD stuff).

Yeah, I suppose that it is possible for a TKD character to perform TKD. But really there are only so many ways to do a frontkick ;)

Just for the record, there is a move like the hadoken found in the kata Hangetsu ;) You don't shoot a blue fireball from your hands, but it the same hand movement (except aimed at the ground)

MA are something very complicated to be presented realistic in
a videogame.

Games - espescially beat-em-ups - don't care about the MA's, they just want it to look cool for the players
