I'm curious what everyone else thinks of this fighter. After watching him, I think Tim Sylvia would have a real tough time with this guy.

He's French, thus he sucks :p
Seriously though, he's impressed me so far; beautiful striking, pretty good ground game, enough cardio to go a round without collapsing. What he is, however, is untested in the last couple of years. The last time he fought a "name" fighter (Gilbert Yvel) he got KO'd but put in a good showing from what I hear
The UFC's heavyweight division's shallower than a Tricia guest's genepool right now so a title shot's probably not too far away, but I don't think he's quite ready yet. I'd rather he fought some good competition and got a little seasoned before fighting for the title, but he probably won't. I think he might be able to give Sylvia some trouble though. I'd really like to see him fight Arlovski, actually

Like Sever said, impressive so far but we really haven't seen him fight a top contender.

Aside for the engative aspects of him being french, he does have a cool name.

I gues we'd have to find out a bit more about his chin to have a better idea how he's fare. Is Monson the next contender for Sylvia right now?

Good kick-boxing/muay thai skills but I feel he would be very susceptible to submissions and ground-and-pound.

Which is something I don't think he'd have to worry about with sylvia.

He got knocked out by Yvel, but Yvel's one hell of a striker so it doesn't really say anything one way or the other about his chin other than he's not Mark Hunt. He's never been subbed so I don't know that it'll be a huge problem for him. Kongo's calling out Frank Mir at the moment, so if that fight happens, we'll get to see what his submission defence is like for, oh, at least thirty seconds before Mir gases and gets his head knocked off

I predict Kongo wins by knee to the face again.

If Mir comes in looking like he did in his last fight, I'll take Kongo by whatever the hell he wants (so, yeah, probably knees) :D

I liked what i saw the other night, but we'll have to wait and see, an arlovski fight would be nice. wait, calling out MIR! that'll be a fun few seconds, i hope mir has improved, i liked him.

I was pretty impressed by this guy, he looks in greath shape and his striking was excellent, the only negatie thing I can say is that his cardio might not be up to scratch I though he looked a bit tired just before he got the other guy on the run. Can't really comment on his grappling since i'm only a striker. Unless Mir has improved I predict it will be a one round fight with Cheick.

He's won a previous fight via submission (according to Sherdog) so he's obviously not averse to them but it will be interesting to see him against Mir.

He's a welcome addition to the UFC's threadbare Heavyweight division. He could definitely go far but I doubt he's ready for Silvia yet - if he beats Mir then it would be the obvious next match-up.

Kongo also got out of an armbar quite nicely in his latest fight so I don't think it'll be a case of "get him to the floor and he's done" the way some UFC heavyweights are. He seems fairly well rounded.
Mir's submission skills are truly some of the best I've seen at heavyweight, certainly the best the UFC has had since Rodriguez went to crap, but if he doesn't really start to work on his cardio, a guy that hits as hard as Kongo does will wreck him worse than Freeman did
