Swimming is tough,I used the pool when we where on vacation to swim laps.I have a great respect for those that swim, much tougher then I thought.

Just out of interest, how the heck can some of you folks fit in the multiple sports. Do you not have jobs or study?

I've had to give up all my current MA training (judo) for my rugby life, simply cos there is no time - moving to the UK with a fairly singular goal of playing professionally there, so all other things take a back seat - I run and lift weights, but all that is just part of the rugby in my eyes. Anyway, come september I'll find out it it's been enough...

Su lin
30-Jan-2007, 01:10 PM
Good luck with it Falcore!

It's pretty easy to fit everything in. Work 9-5 Mon-Fri- MA training 3-5 times a week(3 officially but we do extra sessions) ,cycling or running in the evening for 1-2 nights (when not training in kf) then cycling at weekend or running. It depends how much time you spend doing stuff that you dont need to do or just "wasting" time. It's much harder in the winter, getting home in the dark from work then dragging yourself out in the dark.Much easier doing stuff in the evening when its light and warm. :)

falcore -
its all about priorities. the stuff i play is just played for fun, i don't take it that seriously anymore - its downtime. and a lot of us don't play them all at the same time - seasons, m'boy, all about seasons

My favorite sport besides martial arts is dancing. And don't say its not a sport! When I sweat more after doing a routine in dance than in MA, that's saying something! Its fun to compete with other dancers, too:)

Basketball, it's pretty convieniant when i'm training for taekwondo too since working your fast-twitch muscles is essential in both. So plyos and jump roping and a variety of other exercises help with both.

I'm starting to play a bit of rugby now at Uni (not in a team, mainly just kick/pass-arounds). I cycle quite a bit when I'm at home and might get more into that in September. When I get time and have transport I get some freshwater fishing done.

Not enough sport, I know but it should be on the up in the summer :)

Badminton.

Serious players will realize the level it can be played at, as well as the necessity for deception, tactics, reflexes, coordination, explosive power, endurance, etc.

For those who don't, play a pro and try to return that 180 mpH smash (higher still in doubles). :p

Ving Tsun, some Toshindo, a lot of reading, and do some inter-martial art's sparring in school every so often. I swim whenever i feel really unfit, and am trying to get my Cardio-vascular (spelt wrong probably) fitness up, if anybody has tips on that.

TKDMORGANVILLE
12-May-2007, 02:23 PM
Personally if you want to get your cardio up jogging to me is the best way and not short distance ...well start out short and build yourself up. That long distance jogging will help build strong stamina for your body and get your heart pumping. I get up at about 6am monday - sat and jog 2-3 miles...depends on the weather usually.

Also when considering the physical fitness aspect of cardio you need decide if you are going for strong short term stamina or long term stamina. Personally most arts require long term, but thats up to you.
