I found this in the Bible today, it seems just like now the earth is corrupt and full of violence.
This is the account of Noah.
Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God. 10 Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.
Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.

But if you continue reading it also says this.
.....Jehovah said to himself "I will never do it again-I will never again curse the earth, destroying all living things, even though man's bent is always toward evil from the earliest youth and even though he does such wicked things."

There have always been wars. Even if there are more these days, it's not necessarily a big deal. This year in England was the hottest July we've had for a long time. What does this prove? Just that there are periods where things deviate significantly from the average.
I'm still struggling to understand what the point you're trying to make here is.

ROTFLMAO!!!
err... and that would have been when?!?!
How old are you?!?!?
According to you stats here at MAP you're born in 1972...
I suggest you go back and take a look at all the wars that have gone in that time... and not just the big fancy ones reported in technicolor in between sound bites on American TV... take a look at all the small festering ones that killed thousands...
What the heck - since it's sooo close check out Vietnam, or the genocide in Cambodia, while your at it...look up the problems in Nicarauga and in El Salvador. There are dozens of others... did someone mention Afghanistan... What did someone say genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina?! Oh my god did someone say Liberia?!?! And was Sierra Leone I heard...
:D

the reason for posting the quote are purely personal, as to whether there are more wars now than when I was younger I dont know, perhaps I am just more aware of them now.
the purpose of this thread is to share and discuss Bible quotes, do you have anything to share or discuss ?

Ah, ok, I understand now. Your original post didn't make that clear and you gave me the impression that you were posting for the sake of starting another religious thread.
perhaps you also have some bible quotes what you would like to share ?
Afraid not. I'm not a great believer in the Bible. :)

The purpose of the forum in general is to be able to respond to people posts if need be.
I came, I saw and I responded.
I think your on to something there with the whole 'being older and therefore having access to more information and thus being more aware of war' though.
As for the Bible - I've never been that big on it... ya know hangover from being raised Catholic. :D

I got some bible quote that apply today:
bible Job 34:3
The ear tests words as the tongue tastes food.
bible 17:20:
I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, "Move from here to there" and it will move.
(I do this one all the time)
bible Genesis, 2. 18
It is not good that the man should be alone.

How do you quantify "more wars"?
More actual conflicts?
More casualties across the world as a whole?
Seems a tricky thing to rate over any given period of time to me.
What is clear is that man has always fought wars. And he always will.
The only things that change are the reasons (and that's debatable) and the technology. We have a far greater capacity to kill people these days.
We also have far greater media coverage so it seems like there's violence going on all the time.
To say that we fight more wars these days is basically like saying that human nature has changed recently and I find that hard to believe.
An evangelical preacher in the centre of York recently had the cheek to say that the reason for all the violence in the world today (in particular) is due to people turning away from God. That shows a lack of understanding of wars, history, christian history and human nature that astounds me.

If a man still prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall say to him, "You shall not live, because you have spoken a lie in the name of the Lord." When he prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall thrust him through. - Zechariah 13:3

You didn't read that verse right. There is nothing about one god beating up another. It doesn't even talk about praying to a god. It is about telling a lie and saying that it came from God.

oh its always read wrong, i forgot, thats how bible quotes work, if its bad, its our of context. That passage was about preaching a religion other than the one you're been brought into, but hey, if it was about lying and blaiming god, i'd say most of the christian world is doomed.

Not out of context, you just completely misread it. Even I can see that, and I don't believe in Christianity either.

if you ever feel depressed read the book of Job and you will feel a whole lot better
Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.
Job, 3. 3
Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul?
Job, 3. 20
Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
Job, 14. 1

Deuteronomy?
The officials shall continue to address the troops, saying, "Is anyone afraid or disheartened? He should go back to his house, or he might cause the heart of his comrades to melt like his own." 9 When the officials have finished addressing the troops, then the commanders shall take charge of them.
If you besiege a town for a long time, making war against it in order to take it, you must not destroy its trees by wielding an ax against them. Although you may take food from them, you must not cut them down. Are trees in the field human beings that they should come under siege from you?
19 When you approach the frontier of the Ammonites, do not harass them or engage them in battle, for I will not give the land of the Ammonites to you as a possession, because I have given it to the descendants of Lot.
I am sure there is more. But this is surely enough text.

Hmmm I don't really believe in everything in the bible in what it portays but I do agree with some teachings. Anyways what I believe is that God probably saw this coming to this day. Where the world is getting over populated, and had to do something about it. He knows that this world won't be peaceful for all of us, and knew that destuction will eventually come for most of us around the world.
*Wonders* if 2012 had to do anything with a part of it.
Is it only.... Bad Karma?

Or perhaps look even further in history, to World Wars 1 and 2,to the Crusades, and the Hundred Years War, all the wars fought by the Romans and the Greeks, all the wars fought before then even. My point? There has been violence in corruption throughout history, not just the past decade.

I think when we're younger we're more insulated to whats going on in the world, the "let kids be kids" thing. Unfortunately wars have always been and will always be....
