Hi all...

Here's the first in a series of links to old training manuals that can be downloaded and practiced.

The "Walking Stick" Method of Self Defense

This manual was written by Mr. H.G. Lang who was a British Officer of the Indian Police. It was written in 1923 and is a combination of Western cane techniques and traditional Indian MA

The "Walking Stick" Method of Self Defense

Glad you liked it!

Many thanks to Ralph and Joe for making it available to me to transcribe in the first place and thanks to The Exiles for hosting it!

Paladin Press has recently republished a copy of this work so you can get a nifty bound (paper back) copy if printing out a PDF just doesn't do it for you.

Peace favor your sword,
Kirk

Glad you like this one too!

This is an excerpt from Yerkow's Judo book and the stick system he details here is Lang's system. Apparently a copy of Lang's manual went to Israel where it was adopted for civilian/Hagana.

Craig Geminer, on his website, is hosting an excellent article by Noah Gross reviewing the history of the stick system that eventually lead to Yerkow's inclusion of it in his book.

The link won't work for me, so would anyone be willing to send me a copy of the whole document please?

Try it again. I just hit it and it worked flawlessly.

Alternately you could try downloading from my personal archive.

If you still can't get it to download, shoot me an email at lawson@dayton.net and I'll zip up the whole kit-n-kaboodle and mail it to you.

I've found a good website concerned with WMA, and if you check out it's library, you can download some good articles for free, including Dave Mendoza's Treatise and six lessons.
