A female friend of mine has this serious problem. I fear she has a kidney and liver problem because she also gets angry easily.

She went to visit the TCM branch in a local hospital where I currently live in Taipei and they told her: Sorry but TCM wouldn't be of any help :woo:

When she told me this story I couldn't believe my eyes. What a bunch of dogs for telling her something like that. I wish I was a TCM practitioner so I could help her myself.

My question is:

What specific treatment does her condition require (acupuncture and herbs)?

Thx in advance,

DC.

Frequent urination could be caused by a bladder infection.

Could it be that she is unknowingly consuming large quantities of a diuretic substance in her diet?

Also, diuretics are used to treat some liver and kidney problems, they work in part by causing sodium and water loss through the urine. As urine is produced by the kidney, sodium and water – which cause edema related to the disease – move into the blood to replace the volume lost as urine, thereby reducing the pathological edema.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diuretic - not that wiki is the best source, but seems legit.

Also, maybe she has a weak bladder, in which case I think some pelvic floor exercises may be useful.

Most likely to be Cystitis!

Most women will suffer from it from time to time.

A simple urine test can determine if there's an infection.

Oh, and most women get angry easy, don't they? So that's pretty normal :D

polyuria in and of itself is a symptom of many different diseases- anything from pregnancy to diabetes. There is no way anyone can suggest a course of treatment off the internet without eleminating all other diagnosis. I suggest she go back to the doctors and check for blood and sugar in the urine as a starter.

err... if you are in such fear that do the right thing and have her get to a doctor who can run a set of simple labs on a urine sample. That is going to tell her far more than any visit to a TCM practitioner would.

She went to visit the TCM branch in a local hospital where I currently live in Taipei and they told her: Sorry but TCM wouldn't be of any help :woo:

Maybe they're clued up and know that urinary tract infection can lead to serious problems and needs to be diagnosed properly. Thus they don't want the liability. Maybe they also know that it could be something far more serious than your garden variety infection.... eg. get to a doctor.

When she told me this story I couldn't believe my eyes. What a bunch of dogs for telling her something like that. I wish I was a TCM practitioner so I could help her myself.

Oh come on... they gave her an honest opinion and now they're dogs?!

ummm.... hate to break it to you but neither of those is really the wisest choice for your friend. You need a diagnosis before you can suss a treatment.
You can't do that by randomly deciding it's got to be herbs or acupuncture.
For the sake of your friend use some common sense and get her to a clinic and have her do a basic check up with a urologist.

With my dad, it was the first sign of diabetes.
With me it's the first sign I've drunk too much! :D
