I went to a friend's over the weekend to workout. Instead of rummaging thru my training bag for my hand pads and mouth guard I just took the whole thing with me. While putting on my hand pads my friend notices that I have masking tape and a ragged white belt in my bag and asks me what they are for.

The tape is to mark boundaries on the floor and
to put lines on the floor for those learning a
new kata and having trouble with their angles.

The white belt is used to tie each end to two opponents wrist, same side or opposite sides to make sparring a little more challenging.

We use X-ray film for a drill.
Two partners, one holding the film out and the other in a comfortable stance, their guard up.
The one holding the film drops it and the other has to snatch it out of the air catching it by
the sides with one hand before it hits the ground.

I'm curious. What are some of the various training tools you use in class?

I use tape on the punchbag to help people see where they should be targeting certain strikes, I've also run out of tape and used my own sweat to mark the bag (its a black one and the sweat shows real good in the light), I got a few complaints about that one! (Your scared of someone else's sweat?).

If your training solo you can tie a belt to a punchbag or washing pole to practice throw entries.

I've heard it said that some Tai Chi schools use China Cup Saucers to perfect balance, anyone else heard this one?

LOL! If someone is bothered by sweat they may need to re-evaluate their reasons for training. I can just imagine what they are like when or if they get up close and personal.

I already have a white belt tied around my heavy bag to simulate a waist.
