It was 15 minutes of Stalemate with Severn in Gracie's guard followed by a triangle... hardly a "wild fight"

It was a technical fight, with indeed Gracie winning with a triangle as the commentator Jeff Blatnick i think a wrestler and obviously a very knowledgeable submission grappler ;) screaming "he's got nothing" as Severn tapped!
Also allegedly responsible for the move to rounds and the standing up of the fighters when there is so called in activity on the ground.

Royce vs dan severn was at UFC 4
Then in UFC 5 we had the most boring 'fight' ever witnessed
The 'Super Fight'
Royce Gracie vs Ken Shamrock
I think this is more likely the catylist for the move to rounds and time limits
And standing people up for inactivity
If it never happened, the sport would have fizzled out
Or maybe bottled, and sold at the pharmacist as a cure for insomnia

Its really not wild at all. It's 15 minutes of nothing then an elbow lock. Who told you it was a wild fight??
