An old story about my great-grandfather. No idea how true it is, but my grandad swears blind every word of it is true.
My great grandad lived in an old mining town up north. He was a well-respected man, a hard worker and a competent boxer. Somewhat putting his descendant to shame :(. One day, he was going back to the house on a line of terraces where he lived, and he passed two lads fighting. One of them was quite obviously getting beaten. So he stepped in and separated them. Everyone thought he was going to separate them and that would be it, everyone would go home. But no- he says 'right lads, marquess of Queensbury rules, let's do this thing properly'. And the lad still gets a pasting, only under marquess of queensbury rules :)
What do you all think?

haha nice, my grandad was in WW2 and learned jujitsu when he was stationed in Okinawa. Like thirty forty years ago two guys got mad he was driving slow and made him pull over to beat him up, they didn't expect a big bear to step out of the car and stair them in the eyes. When they ran at him he flipped them to the concrete and yelled, "I know Jujitsu". cheasy but true, haha.

Well here's my father's story..

One day we were discussing judo with my father and he revealed that he also had studied judo about 30 years ago. At that time judo was quite something new and mysterious here in Finland.

Dad was in police academy(lol) and there was an instructor, small middleaged man who taught them some basic judo throws. The training itself was quite raw: they weren't taught ukemi, they just threw each others to hardwood floor and my father got released from training when he broke 2 of his ribs during throw exercise, but that is not the point...

on to the point, there was this big boxer guy, who was one of dad's fellow students. Though the judo teacher had requested them not to resist when he demonstrates his throws, the boxer guy said to dad and couple of other guys that he is going to resist, for "no little guy is going to throw him."

Well, the teacher asks boxer to be his uke and starts demonstrating a hip throw, but the boxer won't move, he is blocking the throw... teacher gazes him a second, announces that " there are also another ways to bring your opponent down" and throw a punch into the boxers chin, who only semi-conscious, drops to his knees. The class were deadly silent and after that they trained harder than ever before, and my dad was really happy he did not have to participate...

well that's my story, and i guess it's real, my dad never lies.
Sorry it was a bit long, hope you did get it.. :D

I know this doesn't have anything to do with MA, but my uncle was supposedly blown about 20 feet by a land mine!

My uncle, in his 'prime', used to be a Karate Instructor. He had been training for looong years.

Anyway, one late night, he took a walk into town or somewhere. Walking down the street some guy jumped out at him, demading his wallet.

My Uncle just stood there, staring blankly. The guy kept on demending the wallet, but still, my uncle still just stood there quiet, not moving, staring ahead of him. This went on for a good 5 minutes.

Eventualy the guy got frustrated, and hit him in the face. He did'nt move. He hit him again, but still, just a blank stare. Again... and again...

The guy freaked out, scared out of his wits, and ran.

My uncle kept his wallet, the guy did'nt get smashed.

My uncle got a bruised face, the guy got totally spooked.

Quite a good resolve I reckon... considering my Uncle was carring a fair bit of cash.....
